In the sixties they named my grandfather Minister of Justice for the first Socialist government with a Jewish president. He was Minister for almost twenty years.
When I was a little girl my grandfather bored me, he was always reading the newspaper. Later I liked being with him and I admired him because he fought against the death penalty, he instituted vacations for jail prisoners and he legalized abortion and homosexuality.
Once I heard him say: the intellectual difference between a Chief Justice and a four year old boy is minimal. And I often think of that other phrase of his: Money must be thrown out the window so that it comes back through the door.
